Research
Our research focuses on the political representation of citizens in multilevel systems of governance. The research program of the department is embedded in the program Governance in a Complex Society of the Institute of Governance Studies (IGS) at the University of Twente and in the research program of the Netherlands Institute of Governance (NIG). The department is active in a number of large scale international projects on Comparative Politics and has particular expertise on survey research. Current research projects include:

Furthermore, faculty members are conducting commissioned research on democratic reforms in national, regional and local government. We also advise and participate in practice-oriented networks (like KISS).
The department has a general consultancy task in research methods for empirical research for all faculty members of the School of Management and Governance and its research institutes.
